Alessandro Bianchetti is an Italian-born cinematographer and photographer based in Perth, Western Australia. With over 15 years of professional experience, he works across commercial, branded content, and performing arts, combining strong visual storytelling with a practical, lighting-driven approach.
He began his career in Italy in 2007, photographing sports, events, and editorial assignments before expanding into cinematography. Early mentorship under photographer and artist Paolo Spinoni shaped his technical discipline and approach to professional image-making.
Since relocating to Australia in 2012, Alessandro has developed a diverse body of work across both still and moving image. He has collaborated with organisations including the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, delivering work across exhibitions, performances, commercial campaigns, and regional productions.
He holds an Advanced Diploma of Photography from North Metropolitan TAFE, graduating with distinction and receiving both Best Student and Best Portfolio (Book) awards. He has also completed specialised training in colour grading, strengthening his ability to deliver consistent, high-quality results across both photography and film.
Alessandro is a certified drone operator (RePL and AROC), licensed to operate UAVs up to 25kg, and regularly incorporates aerial work into commercial productions.
Alessandro’s work has received national recognition, including an exhibition at the Head On Photo Festival and a semi-finalist selection in the Head On Portrait Award. His long-term project, Wishing Things Were Different, reflects a more introspective and narrative-driven side of his practice. Alongside his commercial work, he continues to develop personal projects focused on human-centred storytelling.
